Nothing New Under The Sun

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Every recent discovery, some Ancients once knew

The earth is older than we are taught

And in each age has it been peopled with people who thought

Under the sun,there's nothing new

All had existence once, though of a different hue

There was once an even better form of what presently is

Perhaps,you've heard of the Incas,Troy,Is-Ra,Atlantis

Under the sun,there's nothing new

There's been many an early adventurous band and crew,

Who set out to see the secrets of the worlds

Many of their findings were never preserved in words

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Great cities have risen from plans which ingenious minds drew

Merriment and great parties have held within those adorned walls

But all has been buried in the sands of time; walls, laughter, brawls

Under the sun,there's nothing new

None amongst us can boast of the best brew

Others before us have also been endowed with powerful thirsts

And as for them who rub their bellies in contentment,we surely aren't firsts

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Not even the new recipe of your cherished stew

The cuisine of some ancient peoples would put your skills to shame

But never mind, patent your new recipe all the same

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Go enquire of the Jew;

You think your troubles a nagging bore,

He'll tell you of a life of constant strife with alien and neighbour

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Perhaps you know not how men once grew

There were so strong, sprightly and tall,

That men of today would seem to stoop, lumber and crawl

Under the sun,there's nothing new

In your world,you're offered but a view;

As much as your spirit's age can reach

That is to say; you see as much as your spirit is rich

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Not the wealth of royalties, nor of men who think themselves most shrewd

Down in the wombs of the earth and seas are preserved the Ancients'wealth

A glimpse would set men on a longing,at the peril of mind and health

Under the sun,there's nothing new

Nature's purifying activity spares but only a few

For Nature spites every degrading invention

It gives no thoughts to the hand's intentions
